My parents were two of the most powerful individuals in the supernatural world. Yet, that didn’t stop an unexpected betrayal, or a neglected evil from attacking our home when I was nine years old. I lost my parents, my home and my childhood that night.
It’s been a thousand years since that day. I’ve watched the world change, move on and forget… To survive, I tried my best to do the same. I learned to control and hide the elemental powers I’d inherited from my mother; while simultaneously doing my best to ignore what I’d inherited from my father; even as the need to stop vile, dirty souls - as I like to call them – was an itch on my own soul.
So, to take the edge off, six years ago I found a consultant job as a crime scene analyst for the New England’s division of the Supernatural Department of Honor, or SDH for short. It wasn’t an easy job, but as long as I went in, did my job, and left the hunt - whether for suspect or victim - to the agents, I could use my unique powers without fear of the world learning the truth and keep my Familiar, my Shadow and myself hidden and safe.

My mother was a snow leopard, but my father was a rare feline of the Fae realm. His kind bred with many of the large cats in this realm before they disappeared back into their own when the vail was closed. There offspring became a mixed breed of large feline and Fae with unexpected results. I belong to the Fae Leopards...
For the most part I resemble a Regular snow leopard, but unlike my snow leopard cousins, I am not bound to one size. I can be as small as a five pound house cat, or as large as a nine hundred pound liger. Though most believe my largest size is that of my mothers people; which has saved Evanna's hide more than once.
But my uniqueness goes one step further.
Before I was born, my soul was bound to Evanna, creating a Charge/Familiar bond. I'm the only one of my kind to be in such a bond, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I will spend my life making sure she's always grounded when she calls on her blended magics.
I will also protect her against any who wish her harm, so I leave you with one warning; keep watch on my leopard spots, for if you see them darken and spread, your warning has been given. Because if I become as black as my name, I will be the last thing you see.
I may be a Gryphon, but my life was forfeit before I was even born...
Evanna does not know this. She knows my mother belonged to the Golden Eagle pride, while my father belonged to the Harris Hawk pride; but I never told her mix breeds where not allowed to live... even if I was the first born.
This was why she found me as a cub, bloody and beaten, in a snow storm all those years ago. Left me there to die, a shame to be concealed and forgotten.
Evanna, just a cub herself, saved me in more ways than one that night when she accidentally bound our souls together and made me her Shadow. She gave me a home, family, purpose and (unknown at the time) connected me with my eternal mate. Because of this, I will forever be her eyes in the sky; protecting her until my wings no longer carry me.
